New plants boost US urea production

The US produced a record 4.5mn st of solid urea in the 2016-17 fertilizer year that ended on 30 June, a 39pc increase on 2015-16, according to statistics from The Fertilizer Institute (TFI). The second quarter of 2017 saw domestic urea production ramp up following completed expansions at CF Industries' Port Neal, Iowa, OCI's Wever, Iowa, and Agrium's Borger, Texas, plants.
