Turkish ammonia imports rise in September

Turkish ammonia imports grew by 22pc year-on-year in January-September, to 0.58mn t on the back of accelerated imports from North Africa. Imports from Algeria and Egypt increased by 73pc and 79pc year-on-year to 57,000t and 55,000t, respectively. Imports from Russia remained constant around 268,000t compared to 2016. A big drop was seen in ammonia imports from Ukraine due to intermittent supply out of Yuzhny as producers faced supply curtailments, below-cost international pricing and issues transporting ammonia on the Odessa pipeline. Exports fell from 144,000t in 2016 to 63,000t in the current period.
