Russian coal prices in Asia continued to recover as demand in China improved and supply from alternative origins, including South Africa and Colombia, face potential restrictions. Russian NAR 6,000 kcal/kg coal prices rose by $2.06/t on the week to $68.06/t fob Vostochny. No assessment-relevant trades were reported. Trading activity may drop in the near term as new measures to control the spread of the coronavirus were announced this week in Russia. South Korean state-owned utilities are expected to reduce coal burn and avoid new purchases as a result, a local trading firm said.
