Heavy rain across parts of Indonesia’s main Kalimantan coal producing region is once again hampering mining operations, forcing at least two mining firms to declare force majeure on shipments, market participants said. Low calorific-value (CV) coal producer Jhonlin possibly has declared force majeure on three Panamax shipments amounting to around 250,000t of GAR 4,200 kcal/kg coal because of flooding at one of its mines in south Kalimantan. It also may potentially have to delay other shipments amounting to another 300,000t this month. Jhonlin could see further delays next month, depending on how long it takes to clear the backlog of delayed June cargoes.
