Coal output from Indonesia’s main Kalimantan producing region is slowly resuming with the onset of drier weather. Heavy rainfall in the region in recent weeks has resulted in delays to mining and vessel loading operations at severa mines, and prompted at least two producers of low calorific value (CV) coal — Jhonlin and PCN — to declare force majeure on shipments. Jhonlin has since resumed production of GAR 3,800 kcal/ kg coal but has maintained its force majeure on GAR 4,200 kcal/kg supplies because of a flooded mine. But several shipments of GAR 3,800 kcal/kg coal that had been scheduled to load this month are likely to be delayed until July.
