摘要

It has become important to reduce emission of CO_2 from the iron and steel making process in point of preserving ecological environment in recent years. Cementite is noticed as a new iron resource because of no CO_2 emission during the reduction of cementite to iron. In this study, a new steel making process through reduction and sintering treatment of cementite powder was proposed. The cementite powder, which is used as starting material, was obtained by mechanical alloying of pure iron powder and graphite powder. After being compacted, the cementite was reduced and sintered simultaneously in H_2 gas atmosphere, and then the microstructure of the obtained steel bulk was examined.
