Debate on changes in trade defence instruments in EU still not for benefit of domestic steelmakers

European steelmakers, who are trying to persuade the government to make changes in the trade defence system,have so far failed to get significant support from the authorities. The industry requests a removal or a modification of the so-called lesser-duty rule, which now allows the EuropeanCommission (EC) to set the defence duties even at the level below dumping margins.
