Turkey, the world’s largest scrap importer, stays passive. Even bookings from the Azov-Black Sea basin have decreasedto zero, although some activity was reported there lately. Quotes have remained stable with no offers or bids in sight.The Turkish scrap market is silent. Scrap demand is minimal in view of the unfavorable developments in the finishedsteel market and pessimistic outlook. “Buyers are nowhere to be seen,” a source with one major mill told Metal Expert.The substantial decline in square billet quotes has also contributed – it is more feasible to book semis now thanproduce them internally amid the current scrap prices.
