US rebar producers may raise price, unlikely to fix increases

There are expectations that US rebar producers may try to push prices up owing to better scrap market in June andforecasts for higher prices in July. Nevertheless, market insiders are rather sceptical regarding the success of thebullish policy as the market is still oversupplied despite the high season.For the moment, booking prices are still unchanged at $639/t ($580/short ton) EXW TW in the south and $661-678/t($600-615/short ton) EXW TW in the Midwest. There are strong expectations that mills will raise offers after July 4, asthe market activity improves after the holiday and scrap buyingweek starts.
