Venezuela: HBI market still goes through crisis after Sidor’s renationalisation

Suppliers of merchant HBI from Venezuela, former largest global exporters, are still troubled by disruptions in rawmaterial supply that began after renationalisation of Sidor, the country’s only supplier of pellets. On the back ofdiminishing HBI output, Venezuelan companies have lost their main target outlets and it will be very problematic forthem to return now, since buyers have switched to alternative raw materials.
