Brazil’s CSN finished the first quarter 2014 with a net income of BRL 52 million ($23.4 million, $1 = BRL 2.224), up more than threefold year-on-year. The increase is a reflection of higher revenue from steel and iron ore sales. The company’s income in the finished steel segment rose 6.2% q-o-q and 1% y-o-y. The main reason behind the rise is a price increase, despite 4% lower supplies compared with the previous quarter and 10% year-on-year.
