Metallurgical and thermal coal producer Peabody Energy has voluntarily filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcyprotection for the majority of its US businesses.All of the mines and offices are expected to operate as normal during the process, the indebted companysaid.None of its Australian operations are included in the filings, and will continue activities as usual, Peabodyadded.
