摘要

NEW ACCREDITATION STAN-dards for hospital cancer programs call for approaches to help patients and their families cope with complex diagnoses and treatments as well as to better coordinate care among an array of health professionals. "These standards enhance the focus of care so that it is much more than a defined structure of clinical treatment," said Stephen Edge, MD, chair of the Commission on Cancer (CoC) of the American College of Surgeons, in a statement. The CoC developed the standards with support from 4 patient advocacy organizations, including the American Cancer Society and the National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship.
