Mitsubishi Chemical is positioning itself for a full-fledged entry into the business of coating materials used in cutting-edge industries such as IT, electronics and automobiles. The Tokyo-based company intends to shift from being primarily a supplier of raw materials for coating materials to supplying the coating materials themselves. To this end, it is accelerating its R&D activities - mainly for nonpaint, clear coating systems - to leverage its core polymer technologies such as for leveling materials, polymerization initiators, antifoaming agents and photoreagents, to introduce new coating materials based on urethane, acrylic and urethane-acrylic resins.
