According to US Senator Chuck Grassley, extensions to some 50 US biodiesel tax credits-—including a fl/gal biodiesel blender credit—are likely to be passed next year, and are on the Senate Finance Committee's 2014 agenda. While the credits are set to expire at the end of 2013, Grassley said that 2014 bill would probably make the renewed credits retroactive. According to the US biodiesel board, the lapse "creates a tremendous amount of uncertainty in the industry that really limits its growth and development as a mainstream American fuel," retroactivity notwithstanding. Sources were uncertain whether the $1.01/gal cellulosic ethanol tax credit was on the docket to be extended as well.
