Chinese Market Prices of Steel Hit Record Low in Jul after Lehman’s Fall

China’s steel prices fell further in July, and price index (April 1994=100.00) of steel products in July surveyed bythe China Iron & Steel Association (CISA) was 62.73, which dropped to the lowest level after the Lehman’s Fall. Fromthe beginning of August, moves to recover steel prices by production curtailment as a lever are said to be seen. Its steelinventory at the end of July surveyed by the CISA was 11,680 t/t, largely down 9.2% from the end of the previous month.
