Qingdao Dongjiakou Port To Construct World's Largest Ore Terminal- To accommodate 400,000-dwt class vessels; making integral part of future international hub port -
Qingdao Dongjiakou Port in Shandong province, China is planning to develop and construct in the near future six large-scaled bulk cargo terminals, of which the Port's flagship projects: the world's largest ore terminal to accommodate 400,000-dwt class vessels and an oil terminal with a ship capacity of 450,000-dwt are currently under construction. At the same time, a project of constructing an 8.7 square kilometer bulk cargo working areas is under way behind these terminals and its completion will result in China's largest bulk cargo working area. The large-volume bulk cargo area and the liquid chemical products area, which are to be preferentially put into operation ahead of others, will be equipped with a total of 13 berths; all these will sufficiently assure cargo throughput requirements. Besides, there will be an additional 33 berths that include four 400,000-dwt or more large berths, thoroughly providing room for sustained growth in the future of the Dongjiakou Port.
