Ridge's claims are unacceptable

The news that Keith Ridge, chief pharmaceutical officer for England, admitted that he misled the All-Party Pharmacy Group by overstating the accuracy of currently available technology driven dispensing systems is shocking (The Pharmaceutical Journal online, 13 May 2016). Ridge cited evidence from literature that the error rate in community pharmacy in the UK "is around 3%" compared to large-scale automated dispensing facilities in Sweden, which he said had an error rate of 0.00001%. However, the error rate for Sweden turned out to be almost double the rate Ridge quoted.
