WOMEN who take any oral contraceptive pill for more than three years are twice as likely to develop the eye disease glaucoma, which can lead to blindness, according to research presented at the annual meeting of the American Academy of Ophthalmology in New Orleans this week. Researchers based their findings on an analysis of 3,406 women aged over 40 years in the US who completed a vision and reproductive health questionnaire and had an eye examination.
