The placebo effect is one of life's great mysteries, sitting among questions like "how were the pyramids built?" and "how does the mind of the opposite sex work?". It is a wonderfully awesome effect that shows us how remarkable the power of the human body and mind is without pharmacological intervention. As pharmacists, we see day in, day out patients who believe they need something to cure whatever is bothering them.
