HIV pharmacists welcome self-testing plans

HIV specialist pharmacists have welcomed plans to permit HIV self-testing kits in the UK, but have warned that negative results could promote risky behaviour. The Department of Health's plans mean HIV self-testing kits will be authorised for sale in the UK once rules preventing their supply have been lifted. Kits will be subject to regulatory control by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Authority.
