Care Bill is laid before Parliament

PROPOSED legislation aimed at improving NHS and social care for adults and the elderly, particularly in the wake of the Francis inquiry (JPJ 2013;290:362), has begun its journey through the Parliamentary approval process. The Care Bill consolidates more than a dozen existing laws and proposes several new ones, including the introduction of an Ofsted-style rating system for hospitals, improved staff training and stronger powers for the Care Quality Commission.
