Palliative care training offered by Macmillan

PHARMACISTS across Glasgow and Clyde are aiming to improve pharmaceutical palliative care through a recently launched service. The service involves 10 Macmillan pharmacy facilitators (pharmacists and technicians) who will work with all 317 community pharmacies in NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde.The facilitators will deliver palliative care training to community pharmacy staff, improve how palliative care services are provided through pharmacies, and increase awareness of the existing "palliative care network pharmacies".These network pharmacies — of which there are 70 in Glasgow plus more in other board areas — provide enhanced palliative care services such as holding a specific list of palliative care medicines and providing access to these medicines out of hours.
