MEDICINES legislation is being amended to ensure that existing patient group directions (PGDs) will continue to be legal after changes to the organisational structure of the NHS in England in April 2013. The revised legislation will allow PGDs to continue after the original authorising body, for example, a primary care trust, has been abolished and until expiry or authorisation by the new body responsible for the service in question.
