BBC l's flagship consumer programme Watchdog took a close look at branded and generic painkillers. The Royal Pharmaceutical Society's chief science adviser Jayne Lawrence was asked to advise the programme on the differences and similarities of these medicines. The programme addressed RPS concerns that the use of different packaging and branding to market the same active ingredients could lead to confusion. Our advice to the public was for people to check with their pharmacist to make sure they were making informed decisions about treating pain.
