Although I wholeheartedly support the sentiments expressed by Alyson Brown in her recent letter to The Pharmaceutical Journal (5 May 2012, p559), I do feel obliged to mention how hard the Royal Pharmaceutical Society has been working in Scotland and further afield to increase our media coverage. Examples of our voice being heard in the Scottish media recently include appearances on STV Evening News, BBC Radio Scotland News, the BBC Radio Scotland "Call Kaye" show and various local radio stations. Issues covered include paracetamol doses for children, prescribing contraceptives and methadone dispensing. We have also commented in Scotland on Sunday about inappropriate selling of paracetamol, vitamin D availability and, most recently, we have highlighted our essential role in future NHS care.
