Just one pharmacist stood for the industrial position for the English Pharmacy Board elections. To echo Luigi Martini and Chris Green (PJ, 28 April 2012, p532), this electoral process is "unhealthy" and inevitably will lead to a weaker professional body. To be voted in because there is no competition is hardly a contest. This should not continue in the next round of elections. If it means personally standing so that there is at least a bit of competition, then I am happy to go forward.
