Audit methods compared

AN AUDIT is an audit is an audit. Well, it is a bit more complicated than that, as three articles in this issue (pp85-87) illustrate. A traditional audit uses pre-defined standards against which performance can be measured and, subsequently, changes can be implemented in light of the results. An FMPACT audit includes a first step which identifies the perspectives of those professionals and patients involved before continuing with a traditional audit.
