Smartphone app aims to improve antimicrobial prescribing

PHARMACISTS and doctors at Southampton University Hospitals NHS Trust have developed the UK's first smartphone app that provides clinicians with patient-specific guidance relating to antimicrobial prescribing. The "MicroGuide" app is a digitised version of the trust's pocket-sized antimicrobial guideline and was developed by Kieran Hand, consultant pharmacist for anti-infectives, Sanjay Gupta, critical care consultant, and microbiologist Adriana Basarab.
