Deaths from diabetes avoidable, audit reveals

APPROXIMATELY 24,000 avoidable deaths occur in England each year because of poorly managed diabetes, according to a report from the National Diabetes Audit. The total number of deaths of people with diagnosed diabetes in England is 70-75,000 per year — representing 15-16 per cent of the total number of annual deaths.
