Care home managers' views of services provided by community pharmacies

Aim To determine care home managers' views of the services provided by community pharmacists. Design A confidential self-administered postal survey. Subjects and settings 2,000 managers of care homes for the elderly in four regions of England. Outcome measures The level of satisfaction with services provided to residential care homes for the elderly by community pharmacists. Results 1,062 care home managers (53.1%) returned questionnaires. The most common services provided were the supply of medicines and advice on the storage and disposal of medicines. Over 92% of respondents expressed a high overall level of satisfaction with the services currently provided. Conclusions Residential home managers were broadly satisfied with the current provision of services by community pharmacists and would support the provision of further services in the future.
