Pharmacy bodies call for clarity over how to use PNAs

Clarity needs to be given on how pharmaceutical needs assessments (PNAs) can be used, the National Pharmacy Association has said in its response to a consultation on draft regulations governing PNAs (PJ, 5 December 2009, p608).Primary care trusts need informing that a PNA "is not a sufficient basis on which to decide they have an over-provision of pharmaceutical services and ask existing contractors to relocate or seek to have them relinquish their contract", the NPA says.
