Preventive measures ease skin-associated effects of EGFR inhibitors

Giving patients with colorectal cancer a combination of topical corticosteroids, moisturis-ers, sunscreen and oral antibiotics before treatment with the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) inhibitor panitumumab more than halves the incidence of severe skin rash associated with the drug, according to a new study reported at the American Society of Clinical Oncology annual meeting.
