Stephen Mather (PJ, 26 September 2009, p329) is to be commended for his efforts to demystify the Qualified Person application process and raise the issue of the shortage of QPs in the NHS.I would recommend that anyone considering this career path should review the revamped Qualified Persons Scheme pages of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society's website and contact the nominated QP officer, Sadia Khan, at the earliest opportunity rather than wait until the point of application. The QP officer is a friendly face and calming influence on the day of the viva voce examination and can be a valuable source of guidance as a candidate plans the necessary programme of academic and practical experience.
