How to combat anthelmintic resistance in sheep

Lesley Stubbings, independent sheep adviser, LSSC Ltd, Northamptonshire, described the industry-wide initiatives, known as sustainable control of parasites in sheep (SCOPS). She said that the aim of the SCOPS programme was to slow the development of anthelmintic resistance. Currently, there are three groups of anthelmintics: benzimadazoles (or white drenches); levamisoles (or yellow drenches); macrocyclic-lactones (or clear drenches).
