Seven years ago,members of the"flu committee"for the Grampian Primary Care Trust(now part of NHS Grampian)met to discuss how to improve local uptake of influenza vaccines.Charles Michie,a community pharmacist from Aberdeen and member of the committee,suggested that a pharmacy-based vaccination service be considered."The idea met with a degree of scepticism from some committee members,"recalls Mr Michie.Nonetheless,a vaccination service delivered by suitably trained pharmacists was subsequently developed.
