Zoledronic acid studies highlight benefits in cancer

Zoledronic acid prevents bone loss in premenopausal women undergoing chemotherapy for breast cancer, a new study confirms.. In the randomised, double-blind, phase III trial, 85 subjects received either placebo or 4mg zoledronic acid intravenously over 15 minutes every three months for one year. All trial subjects were premenopausal women who had undergone surgery for breast cancer, and were due to begin their first year of chemotherapy.
