Worthing and Southlands Hospitals are a dual site 660-bed acute District General Hospital situated in the attractive surroundings of the West Sussex coast and the South Downs. Our Pharmacy Department also provides a full range of services to the Horsham Hospital and has a staff of over 100 individuals providing clinical and technical services to local primary care and mental health trusts and non-NHS organisations in addition to the acute trust. Medicines management systems are well established, with use of patient's own drugs and one-stop dispensing implemented across all wards. This is well supported by fully trained medicines management technicians who take drug histories and check PODs, allowing more time for pharmacists to focus on clinical aspects of care, in addition automation is being introduced to the Worthing Dispensary this year.
