Patients who are not currently deemed at high cardiovascular risk could benefit from rosuvastatin,the results of a study published online this 'week show(9 November 2008 www.content.nejm.org).The trial,known as JUPITER(justification for the use of statins in primary prevention:an intervention trial evaluating rosuvastatin),is claimed to be the largest study to look at the use of statins for primary prevention.The randomised,double-blind,placebo-controlled study,funded by AstraZeneca,involved 17,802 patients without a previous history of cardiovascular disease.
