We congratulate Rob Moodie and colleagues1 for their excellent and inspiring article. They recommend that unhealthy commodity industries should have no role in the formation of national or international non-communicable disease policy.1 To add to the debate, we would like to mention the appointment in March 2012 by the Spanish Ministry of Health of Angela Lopez de Sa as the new Executive Director of the Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition.2 Lopez de Sa was former Scientific and Regulatory Affairs Director at Coca-Cola Iberia,2 and a former member of the Spanish Soft Drinks Association.3 Although she will abstain for 2 years from European Food Safety Agency Adviser Committee meetings for all issues related to soft drinks,4 we doubt that this measure will be enough to comply with Moodie and colleagues' recommendation mentioned above.1
