Doctors in Syria: Saving the lifesavers

In a recent open letter,1 medical leaders called for support of colleagues across Syria who have been deliberately targeted and forced to flee from the region.2 With more than half of all hospitals in Syria damaged or destroyed, makeshift clinics supported by international aid agencies are important means of providing care in some areas.3 This raises an important question: should we be doing more to assist health professionals on the front line?
