To the Editor: We congratulate the authors for demonstrating that gender and body mass index are risk factors for bladder perforation during primary transurethral resection of bladder tumor (TURBT). We have a few questions. The type of anesthesia (general/spinal) was not mentioned. At our center most TURBTs are performed with the patient under spinal anesthesia. In our experience perforation is more common for laterally placed tumors due to obturator jerk at resection.
