The Confederation of Indian Textile Industry -Cotton Development & Research Association (CITI CDRA'S) Cotton Projects in Southern Rajasthan

The Confederation of Indian Textile Industry's Cotton Development & research Association (CITI CDRA) has been propagating the cause of increasing the yield of cotton in the country in general and the yield in rain fed areas in particular. Among the northern cotton growing states, the yield in Rajasthan was found comparatively lower than in Punjab and Haryana states. Lower yields in Rajasthan were attributed to the yield in rainfed areas. The CITI CDRA, therefore, took up the matter with the State Govt, of Rajasthan in 2008-09, bringing to its notice the above fact and the need to improve the yield particularly in rainfed areas of Southern Rajasthan. The State Govt. Of Rajasthan appreciating the CITI CDRA's concern, desired it to suggest an action plan in its behalf.
