Activity in the stainless steel market continued to be affected by the relentless slide in the nickel pricein August. This price weakness has cut alloy surcharges and given that the nickel price hascontinued to slide since the September surcharges were announced, expectations are that alloyextras will decline further in October, which gives an incentive to buyers to wait until then beforepicking up material.
