German engineering market continues to power ahead

Consumption in the German machinery and engineering market continues to propel European extrusion orders. Indeed, German plant and machinery orders during May to July increased by nearly a fifth year-on-year on the back of continued domestic orders growth. Demand is particularly strong for extrusions for pneumatic cylinders and hydraulics and for hard alloy extrusion applications. Elsewhere, extrusions orders from the UK machinery and engineering sector are firm due to strong investment in capital goods, especially in aerospace and industrial machinery. Moreover, demand for extrusions for printing and packaging equipment is noticeably higher. In Italy, extrusions demand is similarly robust, on the back of growing machinery and mechanical equipment production, which rose 10.5 percent from a year ago during HI.
