摘要

The first example of a quadruple ring-closing metathesis reaction is reported. The reaction of the C2 symmetric octaene 3 afforded bis-spirocyclic comounds in high yield. In the past decade the ring-closing metathesis (RCM) reaction has evolved to become a major tool for synthetic organic chemists and has been applied to the synthesis fo heterocyclic, carbocyclic and macrocyclic molecules.
