Total - Corbion JV for bioplastic polymers

FRENCH energy giant Totaland Corbion, the Dutch company that provides bio-based products made from renewable resource, have formed a joint venture to produce and market polylactic acid (PLA) - a bioplastic polymers. The two partners plan to build a PLA polymerisation plant with a capacity of 75,000 tonnes per year at Corbion's site in Thailand that already has a lactide ( PLAmonomer) production unit that will become part of the joint venture. Corbionwill supply the lactic acid necessary for the production of the polylactic acid and the lactide.
