Local price cut has little impact on CCI 8 thermal coal market

The market for imported thermal coal delivered to South China climbed another 10 cents Monday amid inquiries for prompt-loading cargoes and a recovery in freight rates and despite downward pressure from major Chinese coal producers cutting domestic prices, sources said. Platts and Fenwei assessed the CFR South China CCI 8 price for imported cargoes of 5,500 kcal/kg GAR coal at $59/ mt, up 10 cents from Friday.
