Philippines’ Aboitiz gets $557 million loan for Davao coal-fired power plant

Manila—Therma South, a subsidiary of the Aboitiz Group of the Philippines, has signed a Pesos 24 billion ($557 million) deal with a consortium of lenders and banks to finance the construction of a new coal-fired power plant. The proceeds of the loan will be used to finance the construction and operation of Therma South’s 300-MW power plant in Davao City in the southern island of Mindanao.
