European linear low density polyethylene C4 and C6 prices were down by Eur50/mt on the month while mLLDPE C6 prices were up Eur30/mt on the month. C4 prices fell for the first time since January, touching a fresh record high every week since mid-April. The apprehension in buying came as Europe became the highest priced region in the world and began to attract imports from Middle East, Asia and North America. Sources said the price fall was muted as supplies from Middle East were still not plentiful, and tightness remained an overarching fundamental in the market. Nonetheless, bearishness in Asia was filtered through to Europe. Asian LLDPE prices fell $10-$60/mt this week on seasonally weak demand and ample supply as plants gradually return from turnarounds. CFR Far East Asia LLDPE fell $10/mt week on week to $1,270/mt. “European distributors or converters don’t want to too much stock,” one cautious trader said. Another source said there is a “certain lack of imports, but things could change soon; the market seems to be at a turning point.”
